Illustration friday: "Hibernate"

Dandelions are not the first of summer's bloom to fade but they are one of the more visible - when the yellow fields turn white, I know we're headed for winter.
I may be an optimist in general but unending rows of sleepy, grey winter days bring out a melancholic streak in me even as the first scents of spring arise and with that the promise and threat of a brief, uncertain summer.
With the heat decreasing, I'm feeling full of energy, but as the nights grow longer and mornings darker, I'm having an increasingly harder time leaving the hibernating den that is my bed!

  1. My younger daughter feels depressed in the winter. I don't like winter either and look forward to spring when Christmas is over. Lovely painting. I'm a secret lover of dandelions. I think they are pretty.

  2. Beautiful! As is the portrait you painted below!

  3. Lovely!!!! Fading flowers are more beautiful than blooming ones, at least sometimes.

  4. Dandelions are my favorite! My littlest son, Fredasher, has crazy wild dandelion hair.

This is fantastic! You're line style and compositions really compliment this low-camera angle piece.

    My favorite!

  5. You have no idea how much I LOVE this drawing, the subject, the lines, the colors in the big dandelion, the perspective... beautiful.

  6. This is so lovely and delicate. Just a simply beautiful composition.

  7. what a lovely picture. so pretty! and it really captures the spirit of the dandelion :) i can almost feel the breeze through the grass...
