Illustration Friday: "Paper"; 紙 kami

Even when you have neighbours literally on the other side of the wall, you don't usually notice them. But there are times during the day (or night) when everything is so quiet, the walls seem to turn paper thin and you can actually hear people talking. Maybe not every word of it but you'll definitely get the gist of the conversation just by the tone of their voices. And if one is lucky, there may be a musician not too far away, sending up soft melodies through the floorboards.

  1. Great! I love this! The expressions on the faces, the girls and the cat. Funny that everybody is so silent while you write about hearing the noises of the neighbours!

  2. Oooh, goodness, you are a master! You make it look so effortless, but there is so much personality in their faces and postures. And it tells a wonderful story too. Brilliant! Sugoi! My neighbors are fresh out of college and they keep late hours, so I hear the thumping of steps at 2 in the morning. One of them, I think, is a violinist so I can hear music every once in a while too. But not in the middle of the night, thank goodness.

  3. Oh, and your header painting is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! Wow!
